MSBA Announces Lynnfield Advances to Schematic Design Phase for New Addition to Lynnfield High School
Schematic Design Phase Narrows Project Alternatives to a Clearly Defined Design
State Treasurer Steven Grossman, Chairman of the Massachusetts School Building Authority (“MSBA”), and Katherine Craven, MSBA Executive Director, announced today that the MSBA Board of Directors voted to proceed into schematic design for a two-story classroom and science lab addition to the existing high school. The agreed-upon design will be for 740 students serving grades 9 through 12. The MSBA and Lynnfield will continue to work in collaboration to produce detailed renderings to determine the precise scope and budget of the proposed project.
“This is a very exciting stage in the MSBA process. The schematic designs that will be produced will give us our first look at the potential future addition of the high school. They will help us narrow the scope and budget of the project so that we can be sure the final product is efficient, sustainable and affordable,” said State Treasurer Steven Grossman.
“We have worked diligently with Lynnfield over the last several years and I look forward to continuing our work with them during this next stage in the process to build a new addition to the high school that meets MSBA guidelines,” said Katherine Craven, Executive Director of the MSBA.
The MSBA strives to find the right-sized, most fiscally-responsible and educationally-appropriate solutions to create safe and sound learning environments. In its six year history, the MSBA has made more than $8 billion in reimbursements to cities, towns, and regional school districts for school construction projects. These timely payments have saved municipalities over $2.9 billion in avoided local interest costs and have provided much needed cash flow to communities in these difficult economic times.
