Matthew Deninger, Ed.M., is the Chief Strategy and Research Officer at the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE). In this role, Matt works to support school districts in their efforts to enhance their use of resources to improve academic achievement across the board, particularly for students from historically underserved groups and communities. Matt also manages the Office of Planning and Research within DESE, which plans and implements timely evaluations and research projects and utilizes the findings to support and improve the agency’s work and inform its decision-making.
Mr. Deninger has experience as a high school English teacher, athletics coach, researcher, and, at the Department, as a district liaison, policy analyst, project manager, and performance management expert.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Dartmouth College and a master’s degree in Educational Policy and Management from the Harvard University Graduate School of Education.
