MSBA Invites Town of Millis to Launch Feasibility Study for Clyde F. Brown Elementary School

State Treasurer Deborah B. Goldberg, Chair of the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA), and Jack McCarthy, MSBA Executive Director, announced today that the MSBA Board voted to invite the Town of Millis to collaborate on a Feasibility Study to look at possible solutions to the deficiencies identified at the Clyde F. Brown Elementary School.

“The MSBA is committed to finding the best alternative for the Brown Elementary School,” said Treasurer Deborah B. Goldberg. “The partnership between the MSBA and the town of Millis will ensure that students thrive in a 21st century learning environment.”

Brown Elementary School is a 20,000 square foot facility. The school was built in 1954, with an addition made in 1991. The District has identified deficiencies in major building systems including HVAC, plumbing, roof and electrical.

“This Feasibility Study will carefully examine all potential solutions to help us develop the most effective plan,” stated Executive Director McCarthy. “We look forward to partnering with the District to move this potential project forward.”

The MSBA partners with Massachusetts communities to support the design and construction of educationally-appropriate, flexible, sustainable and cost-effective public school facilities. Since its 2004 inception, the Authority has made over 1,500 site visits to more than 250 school districts as part of its due diligence process and has made over $11.2 billion in reimbursements for school construction projects.
