Mount Greylock Awarded $33.2M Grant for Addition/Renovation

State Treasurer Deborah B. Goldberg, Chair of the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA), and MSBA Chief Executive Officer Maureen Valente today announced that the MSBA Board of Directors voted to approve funding for an addition and renovation project at Mount Greylock Regional School located in Williamstown, MA. The District is authorized to receive a maximum grant of up to $33,234,815. One of the next steps is for the District and the MSBA to enter into a Project Funding Agreement, which will detail the project’s scope and budget, along with the conditions under which the District will receive its MSBA grant.

“The plans for this project are the direct result of a collaborative partnership between Mount Greylock officials and the MSBA,” said Treasurer Goldberg. “We look forward to delivering an efficient, sustainable and cost-effective facility that will maximize local and state taxpayer resources while providing a top-notch location in which students can learn effectively.”

The school currently suffers from deficiencies in major building systems including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, building envelope and windows. Mount Greylock Regional School was built in 1960 and serves students in grades 7 through 12.

“The MSBA continues to partner with Massachusetts communities in the ongoing work of upgrading our public schools,” Chief Executive Officer Valente said. “These improvements to school facilities will enhance students’ ability to excel in the classroom.”

The MSBA partners with Massachusetts communities to support the design and construction of educationally appropriate, flexible, sustainable and cost-effective public school facilities. Since its 2004 inception, the MSBA has made over 1,650 site visits to more than 250 school districts as part of its due diligence process and has made over $11.8 billion in reimbursements for school construction.
